Panama City

Panama City, Florida, sits along the Gulf Coast where maritime history and modern beach culture intersect. Originally tied to shipbuilding and fishing, the city developed around St. Andrews Bay, which still anchors local identity through working marinas and long-established neighborhoods. Remnants of that past remain visible in areas like St. Andrews, where older streets and waterfront parks feel connected to everyday life rather than tourism alone.

The landscape is shaped by water on nearly every side. The bay meets the Gulf of Mexico through passes that frame wide beaches, while pine forests and wetlands stretch inland. Clear, shallow coastal waters support fishing, boating, and diving, and nearby barrier islands and state parks offer quieter spaces that contrast with the built-up shoreline.

Panama City has a relaxed, sun-oriented character that shifts with the seasons. Summer brings a social energy along the coast, while cooler months reveal a slower pace centered on local routines and outdoor time.
